Deconstructing the Museum

This workshop was designed by Lene Dalgard and Kristin Kolloen Nielsen for the Kristiansand Intensive Week in 2022. This playful workshop invites its participants to use their creativity and imagination to engage with each other and explore the museum in a different way.

The participants worked in groups and interacted with the exhibition based on the instructions given in each space. The following are some examples from the workshop.

  • SØRLANDSMALERNE (painters of Southern Norway): Create a short story based on the paintings in this room. Start by presenting your main character. (Tip: make one sentence each and let the story evolve.)
  • (Variation: a person to create a paragraph alone, a group coming together and re-creating a story)
  • Corner GREEN ROOM:  Which work fits the title? This work is made in 1999 and bears the Norwegian title “Borte bra men hjemme” which could be translated to “There is no place like home” in English. Guess which work is in the room and send the answer to the email address given by the QR code. Please also send an expression similar to the title in Finnish, Icelandic, and Dutch.
  • Find “THE JOURNEY”:  What has happened? (the answer should be short and, above all; intriguing!)

Write a short dialogue: What are the characters in this painting discussing?
